She's A Carrot...Week 21

I am behind on last weeks update, but here it is...

And sorry, so belly pictures from last week as Ray was out of the country with our only camera...

Fun Baby Facts:

Baby girl now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. She's been practicing martial arts as she is fully kicking and nudging often throughout the day. Her eyebrows and lids are present now.

Week in Review:

Last week was a busy week. I am continuing to feel good and am eating more and more. Ray was on travel in Saudi Arabia for work last week and he was very missed! However, as always, I was able to stay quite busy as I visited with friends, toured the West Wing of The White House, attended a Women's Conference with some of the female leadership of our church and even got a promotion at work!

YES, you heard that right...I have a new job! I am still working for the same company, but I am now the Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) for my company. Don't ask what all I do, because I still figuring it out. After many months waiting and praying to see if this job transition would happen, I finally started this past Thursday. My head is barely above the water as I am literaly figuring things out as I go, but I am excited and grateful for this new opportunity.

Let's see what else...in regards to the pregnancy, I am sleeping slightly better and am getting used to having to sleep on my side. I am a stomach and back sleeper and neither of those are options right now, so onto my side I go. I've woken up in the middle of the night a few times over the last week with super crazy and really painful leg cramps - similar to a charlie horse, but it takes over my whole leg from thigh to foot. IT HURTS!

I am also continuing to grow out of my clothes. I have yet to buy any maternity clothes and it looks like I am going to have to give in and get some this week, as I am not sure I'll be able to wear the pants I've been wearing or many of my work shirts.

My belly has also gotten more noticable to others. Last week I was in the grocery store and I encountered my first belly touching stranger. It was a scary experience for me as this women, who I DO NOT KNOW came up to me and reached out her hand to touch my belly. As she leaned in for the touch, she said "You have such a cute baby bump, how far along are you?" I seriously wanted to scream! Instead, I politely backed away from the stranger, saying "Thank you, I am 21 weeks and I'd appreciate if you would not touch me." My husband laughs because he says I've gotten a little bolder with this pregnancy. I don't know if it's boldness or the fact that I just don't want strangers to touch me!

Well, that's all for now...

Ha! I'm sorry about the strangers.. people are weird about pregnancies. About the cramps -- you've probably heard it a lot, but bananas are pregnant ladies friend. I started having really bad leg cramps.. I had them in my calves and feet. I had heard bananas are good -- hasn't everyone? -- so I decided to try. I ate a banana a day and POOF no more crazy cramps! It really helped. I had a few cramps where the spot ended up being sore for weeks. :( I'm so excited for your little jumping bean!

Summer - I had those leg cramps too - horrible. Congratulations on your new job (!!) - I know that God is building in and through you something very strategic, and it is so fun to watch it unfolding. You ARE in the right place at the right time. Treasure these days.

Have you heard of the Bella Band? They sell them at Target now (it might be a different brand) but they help a lot with being able to wear normal clothes. I've been keeping up with your blogs and I enjoy reading up on how you guys are doing. I'm so excited that you guys get to be parents!!

It will be good for you to get bold NOW. . .because later you'll be in the grocery store and those same crazy ladies will try to touch YOUR BABY with their germy hands. OMG, it drives me NUTS. And its hard for me to be bold.. . .so get used to it now, and it will be good for your baby later!!!! :) Glad you are doing good!!! I wish you lived closer. . I have this great big giant maternity pillow that made sleeping SO much easier. It takes up half the bed but its worth it!! XOXO

Melissa-Thanks for the suggestions on banana's...I'll start eating lots!

Katie-Thanks for the congrats!

Christie-I have a bella band...it was one of the first things I bought and it has been a life saver! But even with the bella band my pants are getting a little tighter! :)

Laura-Another friend just told me about those ginormous pillows and I am going to buy one tonight! Good bye husband, hello pillow! lol! We'll see how the hubs does with practically another person in the bed. And being bold, yeah, not something that comes easy for me either.

Thanks everyone!

i have those leg cramps too. sometimes they make me jump up in the middle of the night and i eat a banana everyday with no avail... but i did find getting more calcium really helps. i take 2 tums a night and the nights i do take them i dont have the cramps, so if you try the bananas and they dont work try tums. i read somewhere that the pain is caused from lack of calcium. but hopefully you can get rid of them now.
oh and i love the random strangers. it catches me off guard everytime someone comes up and ask how far along i am. sometimes i forget i have a huge belly popping out of me. so far no one has touched my belly but one lady did have the face like she wanted too... good thing i was carrying a basket and texting. good luck keeping the strangers at bay!
